Privacy Policy

What this covers, and what it doesn't

‍ ‍

This policy is about this website: what it collects when you visit, and what happens to that information.

‍ ‍

It is not the Notice of Privacy Practices. That is a separate document covering your protected health information as a client of this practice, and it is available here.

‍ ‍

If you have not become a client, the information you give this website is not part of a clinical record. It is still treated carefully, because of what it implies about you.

‍ ‍

What this site collects

‍ ‍

When you contact me. If you use the contact form or send an email, I receive whatever you choose to put in it: your name, your email address, your phone number, and whatever you write. That is used to respond to you and to set up a consultation, and nothing else.

‍ ‍

Please keep it brief. A web form and ordinary email are not secure or confidential channels. Your name, how to reach you, and a sentence about what you are looking for is plenty. Everything else has a better place to go. We talk on the free consultation, and anything detailed goes through the screening form in the secure portal.

‍ ‍

When you just visit. The company that hosts this site keeps basic visit statistics: which pages were viewed, roughly how long, and what kind of device and browser. That is aggregate and is used to see whether the site is working. It is not used to identify you and it is not shared with advertisers.

‍ ‍

Spam protection on the form. The contact form is protected by Google reCAPTCHA, which checks that a submission is coming from a person rather than an automated script. Google receives limited technical information as part of that check, under their own terms. It is there to keep the form usable, not to learn anything about you.

‍ ‍

Cookies. Small files a website stores in your browser, used here for basic site function and the visit counting above. You can block or delete them in your browser settings and the site will still work.

‍ ‍

Scheduling and paperwork. Booking and client paperwork happen in Sessions Health, not on this website. Nothing you do on this site puts information into your clinical record.

‍ ‍

What I do not do

‍ ‍

  • I do not sell your information. Not to anyone, for any amount.

  • I do not share it with advertisers, and there is no advertising tracking on this site.

  • I do not add you to a mailing list because you contacted me. There is no mailing list.

  • I do not use anything you send through this site to build a profile of you.

‍ ‍

Who else can see it

‍ ‍

The company that hosts this website can technically access what is stored on it, the same way a landlord can access a building. My email provider handles email. Those are ordinary service relationships and neither is given your information for their own use.

‍ ‍

Information may be disclosed if the law requires it, which is rare and would be a court order or similar.

‍ ‍

How long it is kept

‍ ‍

Contact messages are kept as long as they are useful for responding to you and then deleted. If you become a client, your clinical record is governed by the Notice of Privacy Practices and Virginia record retention law, not by this policy.

‍ ‍

Children

‍ ‍

This site is not directed to anyone under 18, and Room to Breathe Intensives serves adults only. Please do not submit information about a minor through this site.

‍ ‍

Your choices

‍ ‍

You can browse without contacting me. You can block cookies. You can ask me what I have from you and ask me to delete it, and I will, subject to anything the law requires me to keep. Email emily@roomtobreatheintensives.com.

‍ ‍

Changes

‍ ‍

If this policy changes, the new version is posted here with a new effective date.
